The FLOPPY SPRINKLER SYSTEM is a unique and innovative irrigation system that revolves around a combination of exceptional characteristics found only in Floppy Sprinklers.

The sprinkler consists of a flexible molded silicone tube attached to a plastic nipple surrounded by an outer casing into which a patented flow controller is fitted. When water passes through the flow controller and then on through the tube, it causes the tube to snake to and fro while slowly rotating through 360°.

This unique action cuts the stream of water into uniform, medium sized, low energy droplets, similar to raindrops. There is no mist formation, resulting in very high application efficiencies. This fact combined with the absence of any reactionary forces allows the Floppy Sprinkler and a polyethylene lateral pipe to be suspended from a cable high above the ground.

Typically the cable in turn is suspended between rows of poles up to 75 meters apart, planted across the width of a field at 12 meter intervals. The height of the poles is governed by the tallest piece of equipment used under the system. As there is no other irrigation equipment in the field, tractors and implements can move unhindered down the length of a field, turning only at the ends.

Water application efficiencies of 89% were obtained by Floppy Sprinklers in trials done by the South African Water Research Commission (Report KV119/99) – a 30% improvement over traditional movable impact sprinklers.

Fertigation can therefore be accurately applied through the system adding to the overall ease of management and efficiency, a combination that will result in high yields of outstanding quality.
